Since the inception of the Propositions S and N construction bond program, more than 5,500 jobs have been created for local builders, subcontractors and specialty trades, and providers of professional services, such as engineers, geotechnical experts and others. These jobs are prevailing wage jobs which enable workers to provide for their families while also providingan investment into the local workforce. In 2010, Propositions S and N projects beginning construction will generate nearly $110 million in new contracts,
and at least 1,200 new jobs.
The District has made a solid commitment to the San Diego community and the local contracting communities that projects built on San Diego Community College District campuses are bid fairly, with no preference towards signatory or non-signatory contractors.
The District has in place a comprehensive Contractor Prequalification Program as well as a Labor Compliance Program that ensures the contractors utilized on District projects meet the strict standards set forth in the California Labor Code and the California Code of Regulations.
